Infiltration is an Advanced Best Management Practice (BMP) that involves the use of an artificial pond to manage storm water runoff by infiltrating it through permeable filters or materials into the groundwater aquifer. The pond only releases water through infiltration (the process by which water on the ground surface enters the soil), evaporation, or overflow during heavy rain or flooding.

Storm Water Systems offers infiltration as part of our comprehensive advanced BMP solutions. We even accommodate new requirements from the Water Board to pre-treat storm water to avoid excessive permeation of unwanted metals into the ground water.

It is possible that infiltration alone could cause unwanted problems concerning ground contamination in the long run.  However, combining a Treatment System with infiltration could be an excellent solution and would likely accommodate some of the newer IGP requirements regarding TMDLs.

As California’s leading provider of Advanced BMPs for storm water management and compliance, we can help you write your legally required action plan, then implement it.
